Despite research proving the existence of Dyslexia, many educators still do not understand or even believe it exists. This is why parents have three important roles in ensuring their child progresses successfully through the education system.
- Parents need to understand their child’s learning difficulty and try to learn all they can about the specific strengths and weaknesses of their child so they can advocate for the child within the educational system.
- Parents need to explain the Dyslexia to their child/children and ensure that home is a place where they feel supported and understood.
- Parents need to be able to support their child’s learning and to provide practical tuition aids and techniques that will enable the child to succeed in learning.
